The problem
Missing image alt text is one of the most common accessibility and SEO failures on WordPress sites. Writing it by hand across hundreds of images is tedious, so it never gets done, and site owners have no view of how bad the gap is.
Approach
- Generates descriptive alt text with AI, supporting both the WordPress 7.0 AI Connectors and the OpenAI API.
- Integrates directly into the Gutenberg block editor, with bulk processing and a REST API for automation.
- Adds an alt-text audit dashboard that surfaces every image missing alt text across the site.
- Ships full Spanish and Portuguese translations and a non-intrusive review prompt, built test-first.
What it proves
- Live on the WordPress.org directory since June 2026, with 185+ downloads.
- 70 passing tests, developed test-first.
- Shipping real releases on a public cadence (currently v1.2.1).
