Kindly - Nonprofit WordPress Block Theme

The problem

Nonprofits and churches usually reach for heavy multipurpose themes that load a page builder, make external font requests, lock features behind a Pro upgrade, and ship inaccessible markup. Small organizations end up with slow, non-compliant sites they cannot fully control.

Approach

• A Full Site Editing (FSE) block theme built from scratch using only core blocks, with no page builder.
• A theme.json v3 design system: semantic color palette, fluid typography, and a consistent spacing scale.
• 7 block templates, 15 block patterns for the sections these sites actually need, and 3 style variations, every one passing WCAG AA color contrast.
• Fonts self-hosted so the theme makes zero external requests.

What it proves

• Live and running at kindly.nickgranados.com.
• WCAG 2.2 AA out of the box; passes the official Theme Check with zero required issues.
• Published in the official WordPress.org theme directory at wordpress.org/themes/kindly, having passed both the general and accessibility-ready reviews.
